Reggae Sumfest 2013
21st Year — “The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth”
For Immediate Release
Grammy-Winning Miguel for Reggae Sumfest 2013
Montego Bay, Jamaica — May 10, 2013
Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Miguel has been confirmed by Summerfest Productions as one of the acts slated to perform at Reggae Sumfest 2013. The young R&B vocalist was signed to Jive Records in 2007, the same label responsible for the success of renowned pop superstars such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Usher. Miguel is well known for the chart-toppers “Sure Thing,” “Do You…” and “All I Want Is You.”
The Los Angeles, California native’s biggest hit to date, “Adorn,” is a sultry, soulful ballad reminiscent of the late Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing.” “Adorn” was the first track released from the singer’s sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, which peaked at number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Sumfest patrons can expect to be wowed by the young artiste’s striking vocals and alluring stage presence while rocking to the sounds of his eclectic recordings. The artiste, described as a modern-day Prince, blends R&B, rock, pop and funk.
Miguel will join internationally acclaimed musicians such as Destiny’s Child, Rihanna, R. Kelly, Kanye West, Lionel Richie, Usher and Chris Brown, who have all previously graced the Reggae Sumfest stage. The Sumfest appearance will mark the singer’s first performance in Jamaica. Miguel is scheduled to perform on Saturday, July 27, the final night of the festival, alongside Damian Marley and Chronixx.
Reggae Sumfest begins with its annual beach party on Sunday, July 21. Early-bird tickets for the show nights were made available through Touchstone Ticketing, the festival’s official online ticketing partner. The 21st staging of Reggae Sumfest was sponsored by Digicel, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, Secrets Resorts, Red Stripe, Pepsi, the Jamaica Tourist Board and others.
Reggae Sumfest, then in its 21st year, took place July 21–27, 2013. Dubbed “The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth,” the festival was expected to attract thousands of patrons from Jamaica and around the world to its home in Montego Bay. Summerfest Productions, owners and organizers of the event, invited music lovers to celebrate this milestone.
